Expected of your team
Weekly Status report every Monday
You will turn in a status report to me as well as a modified report to your client.Video/Audio/Photo/Digital Documentation
Everything you do must be documented not only for the program book and planning log but for justifying your own existence. You can use some of this documentation in your weekly status reports.
Program Book and Planning Log:
Each team will compile and submit a complete program book
documenting the planning process of their assigned event(s). Each book will
include sections on logistical details, advertising, budget, worksheets, and
schedule of events, photos, correspondence, speakers, meeting agendas,
evaluation, and any other appropriate materials. An introductory reflection paper
(3-4 pages) should highlight key group accomplishments and learning. The
portfolio should also include a planning log that documents all of the
activities in the planning process. There should be both a physical and electronic version of this document.
Group Presentation:
Each group will make a presentation to share their event
successes, challenges and highlight their learning in event planning. This
information should be organized in such a way as to pitch a client. The day of the presentation four PR and event planning professionals will evaluate your
team. The winning group will be announced at the end of class.
Half of your grade will be based on the work of the team.
You will be given an opportunity to evaluate the others in your team (but no
one likes a tattle tale). Each of these assignments will have detailed specifications
for completion. Completion does not guarantee an A. As in the “real world”
ingenuity and creativity rise above mere “completion.” This is an opportunity
to really show off.
You will use all of the material you gather and create to develop additional content for your personal professional portfolio. Your portfolio is your ticket to internships, jobs, grad assistantships, even bank loans. We will work at the end of the semester on your personal materials. Spend now through the middle of April working hard for your clients.
